Mexico City, August 3 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Two of the four women killed last Friday along with photojournalist Ruben Espinosa, in Mexico City, have been identified by the local press as Yesenia Quiroz and Nadia Vera.

Quiroz was a young student with expectations and great potential, says Carlos Torres in a tweet that has gone viral on social media. Local and social media have also identified another victim as Nadia Vera, an activist from Xalapa, the capital of the gulf state of Veracruz. She was visiting Espinosa in Mexico City.

In a video posted on YouTube Vera is talking to the free press website Plumas Libres, about the aggression that she and a group of students suffered by police agents in 2012. The testimony matches with the circumstances in which all they were killed.

Espinosa previously outspoken against the threats and harassment he received as he was working in Veracruz, which is considered to be the most dangerous state for journalists.

According to investigations of the case, the women were found half-naked and showed signs of torture and rape, allegedly with a metal object. So far officials have not revealed the names of the four women, nor confirmed if Yesenia Quiroz and Nadia Vera were in fact victims. Other local reports say the other two women victims of the multiple murder case was Colombian and the other was the maid of Espinosa.

The case has led to mass protests across Mexico, with hundreds of people in the streets demanding the government to take action and halt the attacks against journalists, according to the 2015 World Press Freedom Index published by Reporters Without Borders, Mexico ranked 148 out of 180 countries, making it one of the most dangerous countries to be a journalist.
