Brasilia, August 4 (RHC-PL) -- Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff presided over a ceremony to celebrate the second anniversary of the "More Doctors" program in the country, which ensures health care for 63 million people. With a total of 18,240 physicians -- of which 11,487 are Cubans -- "More Doctors" is present in 34 indigenous special districts and 4,058 municipalities, representing 72.8 percent of the cities of Brazil, according to Health Minister Arthur Chioro.

With this program, "we significantly expanded access to health, particularly the poorest, most affected people by social inequality, those who need more of the Unified (public) Health System," Chioro emphasized.

After highlighting the two-year performance of this initiative, launched in 2013 by Rousseff, Chioro also announced that the government will announce new measures for this sector.

A recent study confirmed that on a scale from zero to 10, the program achieved a nine, corroborating the positive decision of the Brazilian president to ensure free health care to its citizens.

The inquiry, conducted by the Public Opinion Group of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, reveals that the attention and work of physicians received support of 84 percent of those questioned.
