Havana, September 23 (RHC)-- Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos announced early Wednesday he would make a stop-over in Havana on his way to the United States, in order to meet with peace negotiators. On his Twitter account, the Colombian president said: “Peace is near.” Santos is scheduled to speak at the General Assembly of the United Nations in the coming days while in New York and hold meetings related to the peace process in Colombia. The Colombian president's trip to Havana coincides with the arrival in the Cuban capital of his team of negotiators to the talks, and with the leader of the FARC-EP, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, Timoleón Jiménez.
