New York, October 12 (RHC)-- Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and his potential Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, are leading in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, a new poll has found.

According to the polls from Quinnipiac University, Clinton leads Trump in Florida, 46 percent to 42 percent, in hypothetical general election match-ups in the three swing states. Clinton also narrowly tops Trump in Ohio, with 43 percent to 42 percent, and in Pennsylvania, with 44 percent Clinton to 42 percent, the polls showed.

Home state politicians, such as Ohio Governor John Kasich, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum and Floridian Senator Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida, also trail in their respective states.

But Clinton trails Ben Carson, a retired surgeon, in Florida and Pennsylvania, falls behind Rubio in Ohio and trails both Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive, and Bush in Pennsylvania.

Trump trails by a good margin in the three states when he is matched against potential Democratic candidate Vice President Joe Biden, and White House contender Senator Bernie Sanders.

As many as 15 Republicans are seeking their party’s nomination for president but only Trump, Bush, Rubio and Ted Cruz are considered serious contenders.

Clinton is competing against only three Democrats and independent senator Sanders, for the Democratic Party's nomination. Only Sanders is considered at all competitive in the early primaries.

But, according to reports, Vice President Biden is getting serious to challenge Clinton for the Democratic nomination for president.
