Caracas, October 24 (RHC)-- With less than two months away from parliamentary elections in Venezuela, the government of President Nicolás Maduro denounced new destabilization plots by opposition sectors with the complicity of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello presented evidence of phone conversations between the top executive of the company Polar, Lorenzo Mendoza and economist Ricardo Haussman, who lives in exile in the United States.

In the conversation, Mendoza and Haussman speak about funds from the IMF and the World Bank to destroy the Bolivarian revolution.

With this evidence, a commission of deputies of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela submitted a formal complaint with the country's National Attorney's Office, accusing both Lorenzo Mendoza and Ricardo Haussman of treason and of illicit association to commit a crime.

President Nicolás Maduro said the move is a new destabilizing, desperate attempt by the opposing Mesa de la Unidad Democrática, which refuses to sign a document of the National Electoral Council urging all parties to recognize elections results.
