Buenos Aires, December 9 (PL-RHC)-- Marches and demonstrations to say goodbye to President Cristina Fernández mark the handover of presidential power in Argentina tomorrow, Thursday.

The historic Plaza de Mayo square will be the stage for three protests, and a fourth demonstration will take place outside the Congress when Cristina Fernández hands over the presidency to Mauricio Macri, who will take over the office at Casa Rosada.

For the last two weeks, supporters of the president have called for demonstrations through social media to say goodbye to the president at Plaza de Mayo.

The Head of State will preside over her last executive activity in the Government Palace: unveiling a sculpture in homage to late President Néstor Kirchner, which will accompany those of Raúl Alfonsín and Héctor Cámpora at Casa Rosada's Gallery of Busts.

On Thursday morning, organizations that strongly supported the outgoing president -- including La Cámpora, Unidos y Organizados, Movement Evita, among others -- are expected to gather at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Congress.

Meanwhile, Macri's center-right alliance Cambiemos has also called for a demonstration at Plaza de Mayo on Thursday afternoon to welcome the newly-elected president.

The situation poses a challenge for security forces that will have to control opposing sectors gathered in the same place at the same time.
