Havana, May 13 (RHC)-- The Colombian state and FARC rebel representatives are close to signing a peace agreement that would end decades of conflict. According to reports, the government and Colombian rebels from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, agreed that the deal will be signed before May 18.
Humberto De la Calle, representative of the government for the peace talks, said the citizens of Colombia will decide on the final text in a referendum.
After the agreement is approved by Congress, the Government will integrate the text into the nation's constitution, and it will be effective the moment it is signed.
