Port-Au-Prince, August 24 (RHC/sentinel.ht)-– Haitian President Jocelerme Privert met with university students coming to Cuba for scholarships in the framework of the island's education cooperation with Haiti.
The meeting took place at the National Palace in Port-Au-Prince, and was attended by the Haitian ministers of Education, Foreign Affairs, Planning, and Public Health.
The Haitian head of state congratulated the students while urging them to be ambassadors of their country in Cuba and to take with all seriousness. “It is a heavy responsibility that you assume,” the president told the students, “you must succeed and you must also worthily represent your country in a foreign land, amid several other nations.”
The ultimate goal, he said, is for you to return to your country with the new knowledge and skills and put them at the service of Haitian people.
Of the 21 Haitian students coming to Cuba for scholarships, 16 will study medicine, and the remaining five law and agronomy.
