Havana, August 30 (RHC)-- Latin American governments have slammed Washington's migratory policy towards Cuba. In a letter addressed to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, nine Latin American governments have asked the U.S. government to revise its migratory policy, which they say encourages disorderly, insecure and irregular migratory flows of Cuban citizens into the U.S.

In the text, the Latin American governments insist that Washington's policy sharply contradicts regional policies and efforts to guarantee safe borders, free of organized transnational crime.

Under the 1966 Cuban Adjustment Act, Cuban nationals who reach U.S. soil, regardless of the means, are rapidly granted U.S. residency.

On her Twitter account, Josefina Vidal, Cuban senior diplomat and chief negotiator with U.S., confirmed the extraterritorial nature of the U.S. migratory policy.
