Paris, September 10 (RHC/PL)-- Representatives of Cuba and France signed an agreement in Paris aimed at identifying possible areas of investment in the development of high-standard camping sites. The accord was signed in the framework of the L'Humanité Festival, where Cuba was the guest of honor this year.

The presence of Cuba in the event and the signing of the deal paves the way for expanded relations between the two countries, now in the area of tourism and coming at a time when the flow of French tourists to the island has shown a 130 percent growth, said Cuba’s Ambassador to France, Hector Igarza.

The president of the French Enterprise Campeole, Erick Marie de Fiquelmont, defined Cuba as an island of hope, encounter and relaxation, and said his company supports expanded travel by French people to Cuba.

De Fiquelmont said the accord signed with Cuba is expected to identify potential investments in camping sites on the island that could be turned into high-standard facilities ready to accommodate international visitors.

Cuba’s Campismo Popular Vice President Juan Carlos Garcia Millan, who was in Paris for the signing, said Cuba has currently 96 camping facilities scattered across the island. He noted that Cuba features the most important natural scenery places in the Caribbean in terms of size, variety and endemic levels.
