Second Ship with Venezuelan Aid for Hurricane Victims Arrives in Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba, October 17 (RHC/Prensa Latina)-- A second Venezuelan ship loaded with humanitarian aid for the repairing of damage caused by Hurricane Matthew in eastern Cuba arrived Sunday at the Guillermon Moncada Harbor in Santiago de Cuba. 

The ship Tango 62, of the Venezuelan Navy, brought 396 tons of cargo, including frontal forklifts, electrical transformers, trucks and cement mixers, as well as wire netting for housing repairing.

Present during the reception of the aid alongside provincial authorities, were Cuba's Deputy Defense Minister Ramon Espinosa, Cuban Ambassador to Venezuela Rogelio Polanco, and Major General Juan de Jesus Garcia, General Commander of Venezuelan Army.

Antonio Matos, president of the Defense Council in Baracoa, which was devastated by the hurricane, thanked the Venezuelan people, government and soldiers for their selfless assistance to speed up  recovery of the affected territories.

On Thursday, the ship T 63, the first vessel carrying humanitarian aid to Cuba, arrived in Santiago de Cuba. Two other ships are expected with more Venezuelan fraternal cargo.
