Caracas, November 9 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Presidency Minister Carmen Meléndez highlighted the positive results of the health cooperation between her country and Cuba over the past 14 years.

The Venezuelan official noted that since the creation of the Misión Barrio Adentro, with Cuba's collaboration, health professionals from the Caribbean state have carried out seven hundred-thousand free medical consultations across the South American country.

“Bi-national cooperation efforts have contributed to strengthening healthcare services in both countries, thanks to professional exchanges and the training of doctors,” stated the official during her “Gestión del Pueblo” program, broadcast on Radio Miraflores.

The Venezuelan presidency minister added that under the health cooperation program, Cuban professionals have trained Venezuelan doctors, who are now able and ready to respond to the specific health needs of people in their own communities.

Minister Meléndez stressed that the Bolivarian government of President Nicolás Maduro aims to take Misión Barrio Adentro to all of the country’s states, thus expanding high-quality health care services to people in remote, vulnerable communities.
