Beirut, May 15 (RHC)-- Cuban hero René González said that humanity should be ashamed for the tragedy that the Palestinian people have had to endure at the hands of the Israeli regime and Tel Aviv's powerful western allies.

Addressing Sunday's opening session of the 3rd Arab-International Forum 'Justice for Palestine' in Beirut, Lebanon, González, one of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters who served long, unfair prison terms in U.S. jails, said that Cuba will always support the cause of the Palestinian people for sovereignty and independence.

The Cuban hero urged to step up international actions to correct the colossal injustice being committed against the Palestinian people. He called attention on the situation of Palestinian prisoners, who have been on an indefinite hunger strike for nearly a month now in Israeli jails, demanding respect for their rights and protesting prison conditions and the so-called administrative detention --a procedure commonly used by Israeli occupation forces to hold Palestinian prisoners indefinitely without charging them of any crime.

The International Forum for Justice in Palestine has the participation of 350 Arab and international figures from 30 countries.

The forum, organized by the Arab International Center for Communication and Solidarity, is discussing ways to achieve justice in Palestine to confront Israel’s apartheid system and its crimes against humanity, including the assassination of Palestinian and Lebanese leaders, and some Arab and international figures.

Head of the Arab International Center for Communication and Solidarity Maan Bashour pointed out that the forum came as part of international efforts to isolate Israel.
