La Paz, May 26 (RHC)-- First Vice President Miguel Díaz-Canel renewed Thursday Cuba's support for the Bolivian people and President Evo Morales' Movement Towards Socialism, as well as the Caribbean state's determination to broaden and strengthen ties with the Andean nation.

In statements to the press in Bolivia, Díaz-Canel said: "We can see the advances made by the Plurinational State of Bolivia, led by President Evo Morales and the Movement for Socialism (MAS)."

The Cuban vice president arrived in La Paz from Quito, where he attended the inauguration of Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno.

Díaz-Canel said his official visit to Bolivia serves to assess further opportunities for bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on the economic and commercial fields.

He noted that the visit takes on special significance since 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the death in combat of legendary Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto 'Che' Guevara in Bolivia.

During his four-day official visit to Bolivia, the Cuban vice president will pay tribute to Che in the museum that bears his name in Vallegrande, in the department of Santa Cruz. He will also tour Tiwanaku, an archaeological site located near La Paz, which was the center of an ancient civilization of the same name.

The Cuban vice president and his delegation are also scheduled to hold talks with Bolivian authorities and legislators, among other activities.
