Brussels, October 12 (RHC/Prensa Latina) – Cuban Culture Minister Abel Prieto met Thursday in Brussels with the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini.
The Cuban minister is visiting Belgium at the invitation of members of the European Parliament. He had met Wednesday with members of the Confederal Group of the European United Left, and was also received by the group's president, Gaby Zimmer.
Minister Abel Prieto also met with Gianni Pitella, president of the group of socialists and democrats in the European Parliament, as well as with the solidarity with Cuba group there.
The minister briefed the European legislators on the complex moment Cuba is currently going through as a result of the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma. He noted that the situation becomes aggravated by recent anti-Cuba actions announced by the U.S. government, with a bilateral panorama that has gone back to open US hostility and arrogance. Despite the hostility, he said, Cuba’s position remain one of readiness to dialogue.
