Havana, November 28 (RHC)-- Governments and solidarity organizations around the world continue paying homage to Cuban revolution leader Fidel Castro on the first anniversary of his death, on November 25th.

In Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves and his wife attended a patriotic-cultural gala held at the Cuban Embassy in Fidel's honor.

The Legislative Assembly of the Brazilian State of Bahia held a special session as posthumous tribute to Fidel, promoted by Deputy of the State Congress Marcelino Galo.

Meanwhile in Copenhagen, the Danish capital, members of the Denmark-Cuba Friendship Association, along with activists with the Patria Grande Solidarity Group and support from Christiania commune, paid tribute to Fidel with a solemn ceremony that included planting a tree and placing a stone dedicated to the Cuban revolutionary leader.

In Italy, members of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Rome and Milan, representatives of diplomatic corps from other Latin American nations and of solidarity with Cuba groups in the European nation climbed one of the highest mountains in Susa and  placed a plaque with the name Fidel on the top.

The plaque, made out of a tree with extremely durable wood called caiguaran, was placed at a 1600 meter-height, the same altitude where the Command of the Rebel Army led by Fidel was located on the Sierra Maestra Mountains here in Cuba, during the final stage of the Cuban independence struggle against the U.S.-backed bloody Batista dictatorship.

Already called 'Peak of Fidel' by solidarity activists and friends of Cuba in Italy, the mountain is an iconic place in Italy's history, since it was a main stronghold of the guerrilla war against fascism.
