President Raul Castro is in Antigua and Barbuda leading delegation to 6th CARICOM-Cuba Summit

Upon his arrival in Saint Mary's, President Raul Castro is welcomed by Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

Saint Mary's, Antigua and Barbuda, December 8 (RHC)-- Cuban President Raul Castro is in Antigua and Barbuda, leading the island´s delegation that is participating at the 6th Cuba-CARICOM Summit, a mechanism that was founded by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

The Summit takes place in the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria and will seek to further strengthen the warm relations between Cuba and CARICOM member states, and to find solutions to some of the region´s greatest challenges like climate change, disaster risk management and the achievement of sustainable development.

Other members of the Cuban official delegation are Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca, Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, and Science, Technology and Environment Minister Elba Rosa Perez.

December 8th is CARICOM-Cuba Day.  The CARICOM-Cuba Summit takes place every three years to review the state of bilateral ties and take joint steps toward further advancing cooperation
