Havana, March 14 (RHC)-- At the United Nations, Cuba reiterated its firm stance of zero-tolerance to drug-related crimes.

Addressing the 61st session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), the head of the Cuban delegation Antonio Israel Ybarra Suárez, pointed to the implementation on the island of comprehensive strategies that focus on both, prevention and fight against the scourge.

Ybarra Suárez, head of the Cuban National Drug Commission, said that the Cuban strategy, which involves state institutions, experts and the community, has yielded good results, despite the country's geographical location, pointing to really low incidence of drug-related crimes on the island.

The Cuban official further stressed that all strategies and policies to address this issue, nationally and internationally must take into account the unique, distinctive reality of each and every member state, and must be based on strict respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of every nation, as  stipulated in the UN Charter.
