Lima, March 22 (RHC)-- Cuban ambassador Juan Antonio Fernández denounced on Wednesday in Lima, Peru, maneuvers to de-legitimize the Caribbean country. Fernández was referring specifically to the  participation in the forums of the 8th Summit of the Americas of “people of questionable background with agendas of provocation and subversion of the Cuban people.”

Speaking at Wednesday's Hemispheric Dialog in Lima, as a prelude to the upcoming Summit, the Cuban diplomat lashed out at the makeup of the approved thematic Coalition 26 of the next Civil Society Forum. He further noted that Coalition 26 represents the so-called Latin American Network of Youth for Democracy, which is coordinated by mercenaries of Cuban origin at the service of foreign powers.

“The credibility of the Forum very much depends on its participants and their debates, with no politicizing. The offensive presence of these camouflaged elements of civil society seriously affects the event's credibility,” said Fernandez.

He also expressed Cuba’s condemnation of the exclusion of Venezuela from the 8th Summit of the Americas, saying: “Our America will be mutilated without the participation of one of the countries of the continent that has contributed so much to the ideals of independence and integration of Latin America and the Caribbean.”

The Cuban diplomat stressed that the dialog and the upcoming Summit in Lima should be a meeting point for all nations of the hemisphere to seek alliances, consensus and debates, based on respect for diversity.
