Buenos Aires, April 11 (RHC) – A Cuban delegation is currently in Argentina, participating in the launching of the Assistance Program Against Transnational Organized Crime (PAcCTO). 

The Cuban delegation is being led by prosecutor Beatriz de la Peña La O, a member of the Cuban General Attorney's Office and judge Otto Eduardo Molina, a member of the People's Supreme Court. Experts from the European Union and Latin America are gathered in Buenos Aires, joining forces in the common fight against drug trafficking, human trafficking and money laundering.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister, Daniel Raimondi, reaffirmed his government's commitment to the fight against organized transnational crime.

Raimondi stressed that organized transnational crime is one of the greatest threats to the security of states and affects the economic, political, social and cultural development of the peoples.

He also spoke about how criminal organizations no longer act in only one country, and insisted on greater international cooperation to fight this scourge.

European Union ambassador to Argentina, Aude Maio-Coliche, confirmed that the pact to be finalized at this meeting in Argentina involves countries of the EU and 33 Latin America and Caribbean nations. They were also present.

During the last decade, crime has become an increasingly complex phenomenon and is a threat to Latin America and Europe.
