Santiago de Cuba, April 13 (RHC)-- The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Thomas Kwesi Quartey is in Santiago de Cuba to participate in the XVI International Conference on African and African-American Culture, taking place in that eastern city of Cuba from April 11th to the 16th.
The visit of the high level representative of the African Union coincides with the 30th Anniversary of the African "Fernando Ortiz" Cultural Center, the institution organizing the meeting.
Special guests are members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Havana, mainly ambassadors of African and Latin American countries. Also participating are specialists and researchers from the social sciences interested in African and African-American subjects of diverse regions of Cuba.
The meeting is a space for reflection on the most pressing problems of the African continent from a multidisciplinary perspective, in which for the first time a special presentation by a high leader of the African continental organization is part of the program.
