Cairo, March 10 (RHC)-- At a meeting of the Arab League in Cairo, Cuba demanded the end of illegal Israeli practices in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, ratifying its support for the creation of an independent Palestinian State.

Alexander Pellicer, Cuba's Business Attaché in Egypt, said that such practices carried out by Israeli forces represent serious violations of international law, UN General Assembly resolutions and the UN Security Council, which demand withdrawal from the occupied territories.

The Cuban diplomat made the statement during a joint cabinet meeting of the Arab League and the UN Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian people, held at the headquarters of the Arab League.

Increased construction of illegal settlements, the continued violations of human rights and war crimes are a great concern for Cuba, said Pellicer.

“Cuba demands the immediate cessation of all those Israeli measures and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem,” expressed the Cuban official.

During a cabinet meeting held yesterday, the Arab League supported the decision of the Palestinian government to not recognize Israel as a Jewish State, which was demanded by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
