Diaz-Canel holds several bilateral meetings with counterparts at the United Nations

The Cuban president held biltaeral meetings with his counterparts from Spain, Panama, South Africa, Argentina.

Havana, September 25 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel continued a series of bilateral meetings on Tuesday at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The president spoke in the afternoon with his counterparts of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela, and Angola, Joao Lourenco, and with the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley.

In the morning he met with the presidents of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, and of Argentina, Mauricio Macri.

The morning agenda began with an encounter with Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez.  During the meeting, Sanchez accepted an invitation from Cuba’s president to make an official visit to the island which will be the first by a Spanish premier for more than 30 years.

Diaz-Canel held talks with Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Cuban president later exchanged with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policies.

The Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel also paid tribute to the late Vietnamese president, Tran Dai Quang.  Accompanied by Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez, Cuba's Permanent Representative to the UN,  Díaz-Canel arrived at the Permanent Mission of Vietnam and, once again, conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Cuban government and people on the passing of the Vietnamese president last week.

On Wednesday, the Cuban President will participate in the morning session of the General Debate of the General Assembly and at the commemoration of the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
