Havana, February 7 (RHC)-- Bolivia’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Eduardo Cortez, highlighted Cuba’s contribution to the educational achievements of his country and the success of the 16th International Pedagogy Congress 2019 currently underway at the Havana Convention Center. 

Cortez recalled that Bolivia is an illiteracy free country thanks to the support of Cuba, which saw over one million 200 thousand people to learn to read and write.

"We are now illiteracy free and logically we have worked very closely with Cuba, we have received the necessary support and we have implemented very significant changes that constitute a true educational revolution," he said.

Among measures implemented by the government of President, Evo Morales, to improve the quality of education, Cortez stressed the creation of a pedagogical university, as well as continuing education courses.

Finally, he reiterated that "in Bolivia a cultural, economic and educational revolution has taken place, which has generated profound changes in the country."

The 16th International Pedagogy Congress 2019, which ends February 8, is being attended by professors and researchers from Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, France, Spain, Italy and the United States, among others, with the aim of discussing issues such education in Latin America and the Caribbean and work to achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals.
