Havana, February 12 (RHC)-- Officials from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex) and the Development Bank of Belarus held a meeting, February 12, in Havana to expand working relations.

In a tweet, Mincex first deputy minister, Antonio Carricarte, stated: “The meeting will serve to establish agreements with commercial banks and strengthen our relations."

Last week Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), of which Belarus is a member, signed the Joint Plan of Action for the year 2019, toward implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties the previous year.

Prior to the signing, sector Minister, Rodrigo Malmierca, and Chairman of the EEC Board, Tigran Sargsyan, discussed prospects for economic collaboration and the potentials to expand relations.

Malmierca, confirmed the Cuban government's willingness to strengthen economic ties with the organization, and called to promote exchanges between Eurasian and Cuban businesspeople.

He also highlighted the importance of the EEC given Cuba’s efforts to diversify its international trade ties and boost direct foreign investment.

According to Sargsyan, the EEC can offer Cuba advantageous conditions in regards to commerce, and called to continue exchanging information in oder to strengthen ties between business people from both countries.
