Santiago de Cuba, February 22 (RHC) – Ramón Labañino Salazar, Hero of the Republic of Cuba and one of the Cuban Five, said in Santiago de Cuba that voting Yes for the new Constitution this coming Sunday means voting Yes for the Homeland, the Revolution, Martí and Fidel.

“We will vote Yes because this text represents all the people and defends their most basic rights,” he told the press during the VIII Congress of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba on Thursday.

Labañino cited free education and health care, as well as a social security system that protects Cubans, as some of the benefits ratified in the new constitution.   He also described the text, approved by the National Assembly of People's Power and which will be put to a nationwide referendum this Sunday, as profoundly humane, patriotic and revolutionary.
