Windhoek, March 26 (RHC)-- An official delegation from Cuba, led by Salvador Valdés Mesa, First Vice-President of the Councils of State and Ministers, was warmly received in the Namibian capital by Ms. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of that African country.

At Windhoek´s international airport, both officials exchanged views on the excellent bilateral relations and the willingness to further strengthen the already fraternal ties of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries, united by history in anti-colonialist struggles and for independence.

During the meeting, Valdés Mesa pointed out that this is the third time that he has visited Namibia, and he highlighted the warm welcome that Cuba always receives from this sister nation.

The visit of the Cuban first vice president will last until Wednesday, March 27.   During the visit he will hold meetings with the main leaders of the country, visit historical sites and other places of interest.

On Tuesday, Valdes Mesa held a meeting with Sam Nujoma, Namibia´s historical leader and former president of the country.

Valdés Mesa is in Namibia after participating in the celebrations for the 31st anniversary of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, in the southern part of Angola, on March 23rd, where presidents, high officials and personalities from Southern African countries paid homage to the combatants of that struggle and remembered the ground breaking importance that the battle had for the liberation of the peoples of the region.
