President Miguel Diaz-Canel evaluates measures to combat climate change

Havana, April 5 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has been evaluating measures to combat climate change, including the relocation of coastal settlements.
  
The president chaired a meeting non Thursday to address the issue, as well as actions to preserve the island's heritage.

Participants reviewed progress made in implementing Project Life, the state plan to combat climate change.  Among topics discussed were managing land use in coastal areas threatened by rising sea levels, the protection of mangroves and marine ecosystems, and the early warning system for forest fires.

The group also analyzed actions in key areas such as Camagüey, where work is underway to make tourist areas more sustainable and incorporate environmentally-friendly technologies.  

In regards to protecting the island's heritage, participants reviewed the work of the Institutional System of University Archives.
