Havana, May 20 (RHC)-- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Covusoglu reiterated his country´s opposition to the U.S. blockade and sanctions against Cuba.

The Turkish diplomat concluded over the weekend a two-day official visit to the Caribbean island.  Covusoglu’s statements came following his meeting with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez in Havana on Saturday.

Following the meeting, he said in a series of tweets that Turkey opposes unilateral sanctions against Cuba.
Covusoglu also met his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla with whom he discussed ways to improve bilateral relations as well as regional issues, including the ongoing crisis in Venezuela.

“Turkish investments in Cuba are increasing.  We’ll develop relations in agriculture, construction, infrastructure, energy, health and tourism,” he said in another tweet.

The Turkish top diplomat also met with Cuban Parliament Speaker Esteban Lazo Hernandez.
