Washington D.C., June 14 (RHC)—The US government announced Thursday that it has fined Expedia Group, Hotelbeds USA and Cubasphere for the violation of the blockade, by selling travel tours and packages.

The information about the penalties imposed by the Treasury Department on these three travel companies was released a week after the entry into force of new restrictions to limit the visits of the Americans to Cuba.

Since last June 5, the Donald Trump Administration banned cruise ships from the island and suspended the People-to-People educational trips, one of the most popular forms for Americans, who are prohibited from visiting Cuba as tourists.

In a clear sign of the climate of intolerance prevalent in Miami, the Commission of that city approved a resolution on Thursday urging US Congress to block the presentation in that American city of artists who reside on the island.

Meanwhile the Peace Boat global NGO headquartered in Japan regretted being unable to make a port call in Havana.

In a letter addressed to the president of the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP), Fernando Gonzalez, the president of the NGO deeply lamented the impossibility of docking in Cuban port due to new US restrictions.

In his letter Tatsuya Yoshioka, founder and director of that NGO, 'informs with great sadness that by regulations issued by the Treasury Department of the United States the ship was unable to visit the Island this June 13, as originally established by the itinerary '

The text appreciates the traditional welcome the Peace Boat has received in its visits to Cuba, and vows for 'the reaffirmation and reinforcement of our ties of cooperation and friendship in the future.'
