Cuba, Antigua and Barbuda Vow to Strengthen Bilateral Links

Havana, April 5 (RHC), -- Representatives from the governments of Cuba and Antigua and Barbuda vowed to strengthen bilateral ties, during a ceremony on Friday marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both Caribbean nations.

During the cancellation of a postage stamp celebrating the date, Antigua's ambassador to Havana, Bruce Goodwin, expressed his country's appreciation for the cooperation provided by Cuba in the areas of education, health and construction.

He stressed that the establishment of diplomatic relations on April 6, 1994 marked the beginning of a fruitful and mutually beneficial relationship and advocated its further strengthening thorugh bilateral and multilateral mechanisms such as the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Meanwhile, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, Ana Teresita Gonzalez said that in the course of two decades the links between both countries have consistently grown stronger and thanked Antigua's support in the fight against the economic blockade imposed by the United States on Havana.
