Havana, July 24 (RHC)-- The leader of the Cuban Communist Party, Raúl Castro Ruz, attended on Wednesday the official unveiling of the recently restored Statue of the Republic in the Capitol of Havana.

The restoration work was undertaken by Cuban specialists with the aid of Russian experts, currentlñy working on the island im variopus projects rleated to the 500th anniversary of Havana. 

On hand for the ceremony were Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on a one-day official visit to the island; the president of the National Assembly of People´s Power (National Parliament), Esteban Lazo Hernández; Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, along with Russian and Cuban workers who were involved in the work on the monument.
