Havana, August 13 (RHC)-- María Estrella Marín, Master in Natural and Traditional Medicine, has confirmed that new laws strengthen the Constitution of Cuba.  The doctor conducted the debates prior to the approval of the regulations, both those carried out by the Cuban people and by legislators.

The specialist added that these exchanges of criteria allowed people to make recommendations or suggestions for changes and thereby enriched the content of the laws.  Speaking to Prensa Latina, Marín said that the Electoral, National Symbols and Fisheries laws have a wide scope for the whole country given their direct impact on society.

The Electoral law maintins that the people are in charge of electing their representatives and includes modifications in the number of members of the State Council and the creation of the National Electoral Council.  In addition, it preserves the direct nomination of the candidates for delegates to the municipal assemblies of the Popular Power.

For its part, the Fisheries Law will boost economic development in Cuba and see that fishery resources in Cuba are based on the need to conserve and manage and protect them properly. This is  a new fishing law because before it there was no other, and it is intended is to place the Cuban fishing industry within the law.

Meanwhile, the National Symbols laws while makes the previous legislation more flexible, and maintaining the respect and veneration of those attributes, likewise ratifies that the national symbols of Cuba are the flag of the lone star, the shield of the royal palm and the anthem of Bayamo, created in October 1868 in eastern Cuba, at the beginning of the war of independence against the Spanish colonialism.
