Havana, October 7 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel assured that Cuba will always pay tribute to the 73 mortal victims of the terrorist attack that took place 43 years ago against a Cubana de Aviación commercial airplane off the coast of Barbados.

The president wrote on Twitter: "We have historical memory and we demand justice."

This Sunday, a representation of the Cuban people marched in pilgrimage to the Colon Cemetery to mark the Day of the Victims of State Terrorism, a date established in Cuba following the attack on the Cuban aircraft.

Floral wreaths sent by Communist Party leader, Raul Castro Ruz, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel were laid.

Speaking at the commemoration, Cubana de Aviación airline captain Eliecer Romero stated that the action against the DC-8 was planned by Cuban-born terrorists Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch, and executed by Venezuelans Hernán Ricardo and Freddy Lugo.

He added that those involved belonged to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Posada Carriles and Bosch never paid for that crime and lived in freedom until their deaths in Miami, despite demands for justice by the families of the 73 victims: 57 Cubans, 11 Guyanese and five North Koreans.

State terrorism against Cuba has claimed 3,478 deaths and left more than 2,000 Cubans incapacitated.
