Spain's Foreign Minister visits Cuba

Havana, Oct 15 (RHC)--The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, Josep Borrell, is beginning an official visit to Cuba On Tuesday, during which he will have meetings with authorities of the Caribbean nation.

 

Spain’s  top diplomat will meet with the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, and will carry out other activities.

 

During recent high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, both ministers held a meeting, in which Borrell expressed his country’s opposition to the implementation by the United States of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.

 

According to a statement from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, the ministers also analyzed issues of bilateral, regional and multilateral interest.

 

As of 1 November, Borrell will begin to serve as senior representative of the European Union's Foreign and Security Policy, after being approved for that post by the European Parliament on October 8.

 

Spain is one Cuba’s main investors and sources of tourists.
