Cuba defends peaceful use of ICTs at Internet meeting in China

Havana, October 22  (RHC) Cuba's First Deputy Minister of Communications, Wilfredo González, advocated in China for the peaceful use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).

The official heads the Cuban delegation to the 6th  International InternConferencence, which is concluding Tuesday in the city of Wuzhen.

The event promotes the sustainable development of all countries, regardless of their level of scientific and technological development.

While participating in the Forum of the Strip and the Silk Road on the way to cooperation in Cyberspace, Gonzalez stressed that the meeting promotes open collaboration and denies the use of these technologies for the interference in the internal affairs of nations as well as to conduct cyber-attacks that affect their economic and social stability.

Vice-minister Gonzalez said on Twitter that during the forum, the advisor to the Ministry of Communications, Juan Fernandez, referred to the use of international standards in cyberspace and Cuba's support for the adoption of binding international instruments to effectively address the challenges and threats in this area.

Inaugurated this Sunday, on the first day, Gonzalez provided details about the challenges and advances of the process of computerization in Cuba and denounced the impact on this effort  U.S. economic and political blockade against the island, which lasts for almost six decades.
