Havana, March 4 (RHC)-- Flower offerings from the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro, and the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, accompanied this Wednesday the tribute to the victims of the sabotage against the La Coubre steamboat, 60 years after the barbaric crime.

The commemoration took place in front of the La Coubre docks, in Havana harbor, right at the place of the events. The location is very close to a monument to the martyrs of that infamous terrorist act, built with remains of the ship.

In the name of the bereaved and broken families, Alberto Felipe Codina reiterated the demand for justice for those who, on the afternoon of March 4, 1960, perished as a result of the explosions, the wounded, the mutilated and other people that were left disabled for life.

He spoke on behalf of the families and the people of Cuba, victims of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government, the longest, most brutal, perverse and fiercest in history.

Alberto Felipe was the son of Manuel Francisco Codina Hernández. He is 72 years old today -one year older than his father when he died during the explosions,

Luis Antonio Torres, first secretary of the Party in Havana, paid tribute to the victims of the sabotage against La Coubre and of all the aggressions against Cuba.

"Now it is the subversion, the cyber-attacks, the slander campaigns, but the Cuban people do not lack intelligence, will, ideals, principles and the total certainty of the justice of their cause," he said.
