Havana, April 13 (RHC)-- As part of the country's actions to confront the expansion of the new coronavirus,  local governments have decided to lock down communities in different territories and to step up screening, among other prevention and control actions.

The famous coastal settlement of Gibara, in the eastern Holguin province, in quarantine since last Friday.

Last Saturday, the quarantine phase came into effect for the localities of Florencia, Limpios Grandes and Turiguanó, in the central province of Ciego de Ávila.

Likewise, the Municipal Defense Council in Isle of Youth decreed eight blocks of the Pueblo Nuevo and Abel Santamaría popular urban councils in quarantine. In Havana, the Municipal Defense Council of El Cotorro decided to isolate the popular council Lotería from the rest of the territory.

All these zones have reported cases of local transmission of the novel coronavirus, hence the isolation measures.
