Havana, April 26 (RHC)-- The Cuban Amateur Radio Federation has announced the gradual incorporation of its provincial affiliates to a May Day radio parade based on creativity from homes or essential jobs in the face of the scourge of the new coronavirus.
"For a Different Kind of May Day, Radio Broadcasting" is the title of the initiative, in support of the recent call by the Confederation of Cuban Workers to celebrate International Workers' Day.
Joel Carrazana, from the organization's Information System, reports that the first representations to join the campaign are those of Matanzas, Ciego de Avila, Camagüey and Villa Clara. He pointed out that the members of the Municipal Radio Clubs continue their cooperation activities to counteract the impact of the COVIT-19 and exemplified with the most recent adhesion of those belonging to Villa Clara.
Carrazana cited statements by Julio Pérez Martín, president of the group in that central province, according to which in the municipality of Santa Clara alone, its more than 300 radio amateurs have not stopped activating their radios and from their homes they are collaborating in the dissemination of measures aimed at combating this highly contagious disease.
There are many tasks that the radio amateurs, not only in Santa Clara, but in all the municipalities across the island.
