Havana, May 8 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez denounced this Friday that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has earmarked an additional two million dollars to attacking Cuban medical brigades.

Instead of increasing the aggression against international cooperation and the health of the people, the U.S. government should focus on preventing illnesses and deaths of its citizens at the expense of COVID-19, the Cuban foreign minister said on Twitter.

The Cuban embassy in Slovakia commented, in response to Bruno Rodríguez' tweet, that it is aware of the example set by Cuba and its willingness to cooperate, solidarity, always with its respectful and constructive discourse.  "They should know that the light of a people and its Revolution is not dimmed by millions of mercenaries," the statement added.

Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, said on that same social network that in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, one might ask why the United States government was offering $2 million to encourage denunciations of alleged human rights violations linked to Cuba's medical cooperation.

Carlos Fernández de Cossío, U.S. director general of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that they do not have enough money to prevent the death of 80,000 of their citizens, but they do have enough to attack others whose example of success against the pandemic leaves them looking bad.
