Havana, June 13 (RHC)-- The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted the thoughts of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the importance of ideas to confront the problems of today's world.

On his Twitter account, the president quoted: "Let's sow ideas, and all the weapons that this barbaric civilization has created will be left over; let's sow ideas, and the irremediable destruction of our natural means of life can be prevented."

The phrase is part of the message sent by Fidel Castro to the 11th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development on June 13, 2004, where he ratified his conviction that a better world is possible.

The Cuban head of state takes up that call again at a time when the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the associated economic crisis, are mobilizing people from different parts of the planet in demand of greater justice.
