Havana, September 5 (RHC)— Cuba reported 32 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, taking the total of infections to 4298, according to the National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran.

Speaking at the daily media briefing on the epidemic situation over the last 24 hours, Duran said that for the first time, the country´s laboratories processed in one day over 6000 samples for PCR tests.

He stressed the authorities’ intention to take that number to 7 000, to locate asymptomatic cases that may be spreading the virus.

Havana, the province with most cases, conducted 4500 PCR tests.

Of the 32 new cases, all were Cuban, one of them contracted the disease abroad,

Eighty-three patients were discharged. Six hundred twenty-six positive cases remain hospitalized 4 in critical, and 18 in serious condition.
