Havana, October 12 (RHC)-- New measures linked to Cubans abroad, foreigners who are permanent residents of Cuba and international travelers entered into force on Monday as part of the new plan to confront COVID-19.

As of this date, Cubans with permanent residence in the national territory who had extensions of stay or whose 24-month term expired on March 19, 2020, will be able to remain abroad until October 12, 2021, without losing their residence.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the same will be done with the foreigners with permanent residence in the Caribbean nation for those who have expired the extension of the term or the term of 12 months valid for these cases.

Likewise, the possibility for Cuban citizens who are in countries where biometric data capture is applied to apply for a passport without having to visit the Cuban consulates and consular offices abroad is extended until June 2021.

These persons must use the application form that is available on the website of each consulate or consular office, in addition to complying with the quality requirements established for the necessary photo and signature.

As of this Monday, Cuba will allow the entry of passengers from abroad to Cubans and foreigners, except to the international airport in Havana.

These travelers, who will be given the COVID-19 (PCR) test free of charge, must strictly comply with the protocols and health measures established by Cuban authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
