Johannesburg, May 24 (RHC)-- The Vice President of Cuba’s State Council, Salvador Valdes Mesa, heads the Cuban delegation to the inauguration of the President of the Republic of South Africa, Jacob Zuma.

The Cuban delegation is also composed of Brigadier General Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez, and Gerardo Penalver Portal, Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba.

Valdes Mesa began an official visit to South Africa on Friday at the invitation of the government led by the African National Congress (ANC).

The Cuban vice president was welcomed on Friday by Minister of Health of South Africa, Aaron Motsoaledi, upon his arrival at the Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

The 72 year-old Zuma was officially reappointed last Wednesday by the National Assembly after the ANC held the majority of seats in parliament following an overwhelming win in the general elections of May 7th.
