Havana, December 8  (RHC)-- The Republics of Cuba and Mongolia celebrated on Monday the 60th anniversary of establishing their relations and the beginning of a close friendship.

The ties between the two governments were strengthened in the 1970s with the visits to Cuba of the then president of Mongolia, Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal, and Army General Raúl Castro Ruz to the Asian country.

In the 1980s, the two states ratified trade and cooperation agreements while strengthening cultural and sports ties.

The largest island of the Antilles also supports Mongolian students' formation as a solidarity contribution to the knowledge and development of the Asian nation.

In 2016, the then president of Mongolia, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, visited Cuba to strengthen friendship's traditional ties.

The Caribbean nation contributes to improving the Mongolian population's quality of life through the registration and application of biotechnological medicines such as Heberprot-P.

New horizons are currently opened to continue developing these bonds with bilateral cooperation in medical-pharmaceutical, biotechnology, tourism, and human resources training.
