Damascus, June 11 (RHC) -- Cuban President Raul Castro sent a message of congratulations to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for his victory in the recent presidential elections.
According to the Cuban embassy in Damascus, the Cuban president conveyed his cordial greetings to the Syrian statesman on behalf of himself and the Cuban people.
After attaining 88.7 percent of votes, Al-Assad will lead as President of the Syrian State for seven years.
According to local press reports, Al-Assad was also congratulated for his reelection by the presidents of Nicaragua and Afghanistan, Daniel Ortega, and Hamid Karzai, respectively.
