Havana, April 22 (RHC) The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, participated on Thursday in an extraordinary session of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Cienfuegos, coinciding with the 202nd anniversary of the founding of that city, known on the island as the Pearl of the South.
A few days after the conclusion of the 8th Party Congress, Cienfuegos held its session to make movements of cadres, resulting from the promotion of Felix Duarte Ortega as a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee.
During the meeting, Maridé Fernández López, first secretary of the Communist Party in the municipality of Cienfuegos, replaced Duarte Ortega as the leader of the political organization in the province.
