Matanzas, July 6 (RHC)--Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz held a working meeting on Tuesday with the top authorities of Matanzas to evaluate the complex epidemiological situation in that western province.
Among the actions discussed were the strengthening of primary health care, the completion of the staff with the personnel required for medical assistance, guaranteeing the system's stability with quality care, reorganization of the facilities available in Matanzas, and permanent information to the people.
This Tuesday, 18 doctors and an equal number of nurses from the medical services of the Revolutionary Armed Forces arrived in the province. On Wednesday, a hundred doctors and nurses, members of the Henry Reeve Brigade, will come to help confront COVID-19 in hospitals.
Marrero Cruz recalled that the situation in the province is very complex, with 5,600 active cases. It is the current epicenter of the pandemic on the island.
The Prime Minister praised the altruism of some 300 young people finishing their medical studies, who were supposed to start working in August and have volunteered to start their services in primary health care.
"They are an example of the value of our youth," stressed the Prime Minister.
José Ángel Portal Miranda, head of Public Health, explained the current situation with a high level of transmission and dispersion of the Delta strain and explained that Los Arabos, Limonar, Cárdenas, and Matanzas are the municipalities with the highest incidence rates.
The Prime Minister emphasized that there are no room for disorder or disorganization, strongly criticized bad practices, and called for the adjustment of the protocols in the attention to the disease as COVID-19 evolves.
The proper functioning of the molecular engineering laboratory, the quality of the results, the timely processing of the samples according to the installed capacity, were at the center of the analysis, under the precept of adopting decisions that solve the problems promptly.
The Ministers of Tourism, Transport, and Energy and Mines also participated in the meeting.
