Havana, Sep 30 (RHC) After the approval of the first 35 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), they are already a reality in Cuba, where new economic actors are gradually making their way.

This first group is made up of 32 private and three state-owned companies, with emphasis on activities prioritized for the country's economic development. Thirteen are related to food production, six in manufacturing, three are related to recycling activities and three are located in Havana's Scientific and Technological Park.

According to information on the website of the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP), the new companies are located in 11 of the country's 15 provinces.

Ten of them have already carried out export operations and five belong to local development projects. The MEP adds that 20 of these businesses were self-employed workers that unite to form a non-state management. The other 15 are newly created.

At the moment, the applications for the creation of MSMEs are being processed and so far none have been rejected.

The new MSMEs may proceed with their incorporation as legal entities to carry out their economic activities. These forms of management, together with the non-agricultural cooperatives, are part of the improvement of the economic actors that the country is carrying out in its efforts to create a prosperous and sustainable development.
