As war correspondent in Vietnam, Martha Rojas was an exceptional witness of that country's heroism.

Hanoi, October 5 (RHC)--Newspapers, television channels, radio stations, and social media networks in Vietnam remembered on Tuesday the love professed to that country by the recently deceased Cuban journalist and intellectual Marta Rojas.

The Vietnamese news agency VNA pointed out that Rojas, the first Latin American war correspondent during the combats against the US invader, was for ten years a witness of the bombings in the north and the guerrilla struggle in the south. She was also the last foreign journalist to interview President Ho Chi Minh.

This and other media highlighted that upon her return to the island, Rojas actively participated in the campaigns of support and solidarity with Vietnam. At the age of 90, she wrote about the Indochinese nation and remained as vice-president of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association.

They noted that one of her last activities was to participate in a meeting organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples with the Vietnamese President, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, during his recent visit to the Caribbean nation.

On their Facebook pages, the groups Memories of Cuba and Friends of the University of Havana, formed by Vietnamese who studied and worked in Cuba, told anecdotes and published photos with the prestigious journalist, who also frequently traveled to Vietnam.
